Licensed Contractors

1. Verify the license. Every contractor listed here is licensed through Rockland County, but you can verify directly with the county.
2. Get multiple quotes. Contact at least 3 contractors for your project. Compare scope, timeline, and price — not just the bottom line.
3. Ask for references. A good contractor will happily share past client references. Call them.
4. Get it in writing. Any agreement should include scope of work, materials, timeline, payment schedule, and warranty terms.
5. Check insurance. Ask for proof of liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage before work begins.

Rockland County requires all home improvement contractors to be licensed through the Department of Consumer Protection. The license ensures contractors carry proper insurance and bonding.
